6 Facebook Tips for Small Businesses

6 Facebook Tips for Small Businesses

Here are a few quick and dirty tips for using Facebook to your advantage!

1. DO Create a Facebook page for your business

This one may be a bit of a no-brainer to you, but it’s still pretty important. A Facebook page allows you to keep your customers up-to-date with business happenings. Let them know your contact information and services, link your website, collect reviews, & so much more. Not to mention, linking your website & Facebook pages actually boosts your SEO!

2. DO Keep your branding consistent

Make sure you have the same business name, logos, and information on all of your social media pages, as well as your website. This will ensure your customers aren’t confused.

3. DON’T Use #Hashtags on Facebook!

Hashtags are used to tag different keywords in posts so that you and other people can find it later when searching for something about that topic. Facebook doesn’t work like that. Instead, the platform uses every word in a post as a keyword. So there’s no reason to use hashtags on Facebook; you’ll just look like you don’t know what you’re doing.

4. DO Delete the original URL when posting links

When you copy and paste a link on Facebook, it is automatically turned into a ‘card’, a little rectangle with the title of the webpage you’re linking to, a photo, and some descriptor text. After this little box loads, you can go ahead and delete the original link that you pasted in. Again, so you don’t look like a total noob!

5. DO Keep events 100% up-to-date

There’s nothing worse for your business’s events then not having them on Facebook! Facebook allows you to not only share the event, but to have customers and visitors RSVP, share with their friends, and post questions and feedback about the event.

6. DO Utilize Facebook ads

Facebook has a pretty neat ads feature that’s fairly inexpensive. You get to choose who sees the ad – pick the demographic and lifestyle of your target customers, and for as low as $5 per day, Facebook will post an advertisement for you right in their timeline.

hashtags you used.

7. DO Utilize Instagram ads

Instagram has a very beneficial ads feature, allowing you to choose who sees your ads (choose your target demographic), and it’s fairly cheap!
